Everything you may wish to know about collecting, commissioning and caring for a Maegéc artwork.
THE ARTWORKS
Is every Maegéc artwork original?
Every Maegéc artwork is individually made by hand in Amsterdam by Claudia Solé. Whether a piece is one-of-one or part of a numbered series is shown in its product details.
Because each work is made by hand and incorporates natural materials, no two pieces are completely identical.
Are two Maegéc artworks ever exactly the same?
No. Natural gemstones vary in colour, shape, inclusions and formation, while handmade processes create subtle differences from piece to piece.
These variations are considered part of the artwork rather than imperfections.
What materials are used in Maegéc artworks?
Maegéc works with natural gemstones and minerals alongside stainless steel, resin and canvas, creating contemporary mixed-media wall art.
The materials used in each artwork are listed on its product page.
Are the gemstones natural?
Maegéc works with natural gemstones and minerals, selected individually for each artwork.
Natural stones may contain variations in colour, texture, pattern, transparency or inclusions. These characteristics are part of their natural formation and make each piece unique.
Where do the gemstones come from?
Gemstones are sourced through trusted local and international suppliers. While supplier information may indicate a country of origin, full traceability to the original mine cannot be guaranteed.
Each stone is chosen for its colour, shape and presence, and its history and symbolism are studied before it joins a piece.
Will my artwork look exactly like the photographs?
Every effort is made to represent each artwork accurately.
However, natural gemstones, reflective stainless steel and translucent resin can respond differently depending on daylight, artificial light, surroundings and viewing angle. Colour may also vary slightly between screens.
These changing qualities are an intentional part of experiencing the artwork in person.
Does my artwork include a Certificate of Authenticity?
Yes. Every Maegéc artwork is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity that records the title, year, materials and edition number of the work, and is signed by the artist.
If you have a question about the certificate, contact the studio.
What is the meaning behind the gemstones?
Gemstones have carried symbolic, cultural and spiritual associations for centuries. Maegéc draws inspiration from these histories and interpretations while allowing each collector to develop their own relationship with the stone.
References to gemstone symbolism are offered as cultural and personal interpretation rather than scientific, medical or therapeutic claims.
ORDERING & COLLECTING
How do I choose the right artwork for my space?
If you are unsure which piece, colour or size would suit your interior, contact the Maegéc studio.
You are welcome to share a photograph of your space, approximate wall dimensions and the artworks you are considering, and the studio will guide you.
Can you help me choose the right size?
Yes. For help understanding scale, send the studio an image of your wall together with its approximate dimensions through the contact page.
For larger or commissioned works, dimensions can also be discussed during the commission process.
Can I request additional photographs or videos of an artwork?
For available original artworks, you can contact the studio to request additional detail images or video, whenever available.
SHIPPING & DELIVERY
Where does Maegéc ship?
Maegéc currently ships within the European Union. Shipping costs are calculated according to the artwork and destination and are shown at checkout.
Full details are in the Shipping Policy.
When will my artwork be shipped?
Available artworks. Ready-made artworks are prepared for dispatch within up to 7 business days after your order is confirmed. Delivery times then vary depending on the destination and carrier.
Commissioned artworks. Commissions are created in the order in which they are confirmed, and the estimated lead time is agreed individually before you commit. Shipping for a commission is quoted before it is confirmed.
Occasional delays can arise from material sourcing or carriers. If a significant delay affects your order, the studio will contact you.
How is my artwork packaged?
Each Maegéc artwork is carefully prepared for transport using protective packaging appropriate to its materials, dimensions and weight. Larger or more delicate works may require additional reinforced packaging.
Orders are sent with a tracked shipping service, and tracking information is provided once your artwork has been dispatched.
What happens if my artwork arrives damaged?
Please contact bymaegec@gmail.com as soon as reasonably possible with your order number. It helps to keep all original packaging and to send photographs of:
- the exterior packaging
- the interior packaging
- the artwork
- the damaged area
Depending on the issue, the studio may offer repair guidance, arrange a repair at its own expense, provide a replacement where possible, or propose another appropriate remedy. You will never be asked to repair an artwork yourself. Details are in the Returns Policy and the Shipping Policy.
COMMISSIONS
Does Maegéc accept commissions?
Yes. I create commissioned artworks for collectors looking for a more personal, bespoke piece of wall art.
Commissions may explore specific dimensions, stones, colours or personal references while remaining within the visual language of Maegéc.
What can be personalised?
You choose the starting point: a PORTAL, in polished stainless steel, or an ENGEM, on canvas. From there, I take in what matters to you, such as dimensions, colours, gemstones, and a meaningful date, person or place, and design a proposal made for you.
Looking for something different? Tell me what you have in mind and I will explore what is possible.
Can I choose the gemstones?
Gemstones are explored together during the commission process, in relation to colour, meaning and any personal references. When necessary, I source the stones specifically for your artwork, so availability and suitability can depend on sourcing.
Can you create an artwork around a birthstone, birth date or personal story?
Yes. Gemstones can be selected in relation to birthstones, meaningful dates, relationships, milestones, transitions or other personal references.
The intention is to translate these references into an artwork rather than to illustrate them literally.
How does the commission process work?
- Enquiry. Complete the short questionnaire on the Commissions page, sharing what you are looking for, approximate dimensions, context and any personal references. You are then invited to book a personal call. There is no commitment at this stage.
- Personal call. Let’s talk it through. You tell me what you are looking for, such as dimensions, colours, the purpose and the space it is for, and I take it all in.
- Confirmation. You receive a proposal made for you, with the final price, shipping cost and estimated lead time. A deposit confirms the commission and secures your place in my queue.
- Sourcing. I source gemstones, metal components and other required materials specifically for the artwork when necessary.
- Creation. The artwork is made by hand in my Amsterdam studio.
- Completion. A final preview is shared before delivery is arranged.
How long does a commission take?
Timelines depend on the scale of the artwork, the materials required, gemstone sourcing and my current queue. Commissions are created in the order in which they are confirmed.
The current estimated lead time is shown on the Commissions page, and a precise estimate is confirmed in your proposal before you commit.
Can I request a specific delivery date?
If the artwork is intended for a birthday, wedding, move, anniversary or other meaningful date, please mention this in your initial enquiry. I can confirm whether the timeframe is realistic before accepting the commission.
Specific completion dates are not guaranteed unless I confirm them explicitly.
Will I see my commission before it is shipped?
Yes. Once your artwork is complete, a final preview is shared before delivery is arranged.
Direction, dimensions, materials and details are agreed beforehand. Changes requested after a commission has been confirmed may result in additional costs or a revised lead time, as described in the Terms of Service.
Can commissioned artworks be returned?
Commissioned artworks, including works created from an existing Maegéc piece, are custom-made and may be excluded from the statutory right of withdrawal where permitted by law. Because each commission is individually created, variations in stone placement, resin flow, colour and composition are expected.
An artwork that arrives damaged or with an undisclosed defect is covered as described in the Returns Policy, which is worth reading before you confirm a commission.
CARE & RETURNS
How should I care for my Maegéc artwork?
Handle the artwork with clean, dry hands and avoid abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals.
Natural gemstones, resin, canvas and metal each respond differently to environmental conditions. Avoid prolonged exposure to excessive moisture, heat or intense direct sunlight unless the instructions for a specific artwork say otherwise.
For cleaning or maintenance questions about a particular piece, contact the studio before applying any product.
How should my artwork be installed?
Installation depends on the size, weight and construction of the artwork. Where hanging hardware or a particular method of installation is needed, details are available on the product page or from the studio on request.
For larger pieces, professional installation may be recommended.
Can I return an artwork?
Available artworks. Ready-made and numbered artworks may be returned under the applicable EU right of withdrawal. Please contact bymaegec@gmail.com within 14 days of receiving your artwork, and return it within 14 days after notifying the studio. Return shipping is paid by the customer and should be tracked, insured and securely packaged. Any certificate or documentation supplied with the artwork must be returned with it.
The artwork must be returned in substantially the same condition in which it was received. Once the return is accepted, the purchase price and the cost of standard outbound delivery are refunded.
Personalised works and commissions. Works created specifically for a customer may be excluded from the statutory right of withdrawal where permitted by law.
The full wording is in the Returns Policy, which always takes precedence over this summary.
Can I change or cancel my order?
Orders are subject to acceptance and availability. If you wish to change or cancel an order, please contact the studio as soon as possible.
For available artworks, the right of withdrawal described in the Returns Policy applies. Commissions follow the proposal agreed with the studio and the Terms of Service.

Do you work with interior designers, architects and hospitality projects?
Yes. Maegéc welcomes enquiries from interior designers, architects, art consultants, stylists and hospitality professionals.
